Jonathon and I just got back from 3 days of guiding and a couple days of fishing on a rain soaked Missouri River. The river swelled huge with all the rain and I haven’t seen the Prickly Pear or the Dearborn at these levels for 10+ years. As of this morning, the MO is flowing 9240 and rising. Expect to see flows of 11,000 cfs by the weekend. Wade fishing will be almost non-exsistent for the most part. Anglers can drown if they are not careful.
Luckily, for us, we scratched out 5 days of pretty good fishing. All of it down and dirty with sj worms, grey scuds, baetis nymphs and streamers. We did not make a single cast to a rising fish. Oh well……there is plenty of time for that.
The Madison is blown…….completely. There is 2 inches, maybe, of visibility….. 4-5 weeks of this is expected. We will keep you posted. The Firehole is fishing so atleast there is some angling around here.
Greg and I are headed back to the Missouri on June 4th through the 9th. Stay tuned for more fishing reports.
