The Chicken Trip departed early this morning leaving us in the pouring rain. Fishing with this group of anglers is a highlight of our season and we hope to see them once again next season. Greg and I can’t thank you enough…….
On the way back from Helena there was a light skiff of snow in high country. Rain has been falling all night long and is supposed to for the rest of the day, but then a warm spell is headed our way for the rest of the week. Sun will be good for the caddis, which have been around from time to time, but we need a short stretch of hot weather to get them cranked up. The fishing on the Missouri has been pretty darn good to absolutely stellar with nymphs. A dry fly game is there, but not everywhere. The big browns are cruising around and we caught a few fish like the one above over the past few days. Just think what this fish will look it in October……..by then it could be a legit two footer. Rainbow trout are eating subsurface with a vengeance. They are sitting in fast water and running away with the fly. It’s been a ton of fun.
