The Sweet Month of June

June in Montana is highlight of my angling season.  Snow in the hills, green grass, big puffy clouds, blue sky and large trout on the Missouri River. I left home about 10 days ago and arrived on the Missouri in Craig to 11500 cfs……..big flows.  Not a surprise, as the both of us had been up here fishing on and off for the past month.  The river is fishing very well and has now dropped to 7560 cfs.  There are a few heads around, but with the flows dropping everyday, fish are moving around and trying to get settled.  Rumor is, the folks at the Dam are taking it down to around 6000 cfs.  Watch out, the Mo is going to pop.

 I just recieved a letter from a client and good friend regarding his recent trip to the Missouri River.  I promised I would post it.

What a fantastic trip you set up for us! Fishing on the “Mo” is the best out of all the rivers we have fished in the last 5 years. 75 fish plus days with nothing under 16”and a bunch over 22”, great guides for our customers, great food, and a great time overall. The lodges to the restaurant all made this trip perfect. I would like to thank Pat and Josh for the long trip from the Yellowstone area as well as Lance and I really would like to have all the same guides for next year. I have heard all very positive comments from the customers (even though you arranged for it to snow) and they are excited already about going again to the same place. The care both of you take to pre fish the area, make sure all needs are met from my side, the handling of the shirts, hats, snacks, drinks, and making sure we are safe have proved to me that you are the best and true professionals! I can go on and on about how great the trip was but I will only conclude by saying I have made the right choice in both of you to handle all our needs! I wish you a great season and look towards our next trip in 2010!
